Hail to the Winter Queen
By Benita Wheeler-McGirt - A.J.'s Sweet Wedding Moments
What is more fairy tale like than being a queen on your big day? What is more cozy and romantic than getting married during the winter months? Being a winter queen is a great way to say I do.
With this invitation, I would use a white paneled invite engraved or
thermograph in gold Edwardian style writing to set the tone for the day. On top of the invitation, tie a gold sheer bow. For an added royal touch, sprinkle gold crown shaped confetti inside the invite.
For the ceremony, I would use birch trees or even faux little trees you can buy or rent. Add the sparkle of twinkling lights. For the front of the ceremony, use the two largest trees to frame you. On the pews, I would use gold metal cones filled with lavender colored hyacinths and lilacs.
For the queen of the day, there are several looks for you. You can go the historical route and wear a period gown carrying a cascading bouquet studded with gold beads. For a more modern look, you can a wear white lace ballroom gown, a string of pearls around your neck, and a gold crown to complete the look. With the modern look, consider carrying a beautiful gold tussy mussy filled with creme and lavender colored roses.
The chocolate table is a great special touch for the wedding reception. Fill the table with cakes, pies, and crown shaped cookies. Add various flavors of hot chocolates to warm your winter wedding guests.
For the cake table, cover it with a purple velvet fabric. Have the baker to bake a tall rectangle creation in purple buttercreme or fondant. Then place a beautiful tiara filled with roses as a cake topper.
